Add a bit more kick to your sandwich by creating it with the strong flavours of cheese and mustard sprouts. This is the perfect addition to a Sunday brunch.
Ingredients:
125 mL (½ cup) grated cheese, any type that melts well (mozzarella, cheddar, etc.)
250 mL (1 cup) brown mustard sprouts or yellow mustard sprouts
5 mL (1 teaspoon) olive oil 5 mL (1 teaspoon) balsamic vinegar
Baguette or slices of bread
First, start growing your sprouts (3-5 days until harvest). To prepare the sandwich, first, grate your cheese. Get your bread ready for assembly. Sprinkle the cheese onto the baguette and place it in the oven on broil for several minutes, just long enough for the cheese to begin to melt. Take the baguette out of the oven and place it cheese side up on a plate. Toss the sprouts in equal parts olive oil and balsamic vinegar, then sprinkle them on top of the cheese. Enjoy the spicy, sour, and bitter toppings mingled with the soft and crunchy textures of French bread.
Add any veggies or proteins for the sandwich you'd like!
