Bergamot Seeds

The kitchen garden is a perfect place to plant bergamot seeds. The plants will produce lovely flowers and contain herbal qualities. Call it Bergamot, Beebalm, Monarda, or Bee Mint, it's all the same plant and it's easy to grow from seeds. The flowers are a magnet for hummingbirds, bees and other pollinating insects. Bergamot is a native North American plant and its aromatic leaves, which contain citronella, have traditionally been used for tea. As a bonus the purple flowers are also edible. Bergamot is a perennial that will spread generously, but can easily be contained.
