Seven reusable wood trays made of red alder are strapped together to create 48 nesting holes. Wood is the natural habitat for mason bees and provides excellent insulation and moisture control. The front of the trays is burned to provide visual clues that help bees identify their nesting holes. Wood also retains scents left by nesting mason bees, which act as an attractant the following year. The nesting holes are 8 mm, the preferred size for mason bees. The trays are easy to open for harvesting your bees in the winter.
