Loving the clover.
Dethatched the lawn, cut it short, spread some dirt, added the seed, watered. Easy peasy.
Water usage is down ~40% for the year. I mow half as often (though it does take a bit more effort to clean the mower deck of the clover clippings). Lawn is green in places that were always yellow.
In the spring I do now weed by hand, but after a few weeks the clover seems to prevent most weeds from growing. Plus the ants are out of sight and out of mind.
Highly recommended. Why did we ever stop doing this?
This sign is great for explaining to the neighbours why your lawn looks like it does. Not everyone is so admiring of the clover. But it missed one key point that is very important… you mow way less often!
Seeds germinated fully, the thinnings were delicious, and they are now forming their "mini romaine" heads. I'm very happy with them. Plan to grow indoors or out over the winter.
