Product Details

A winter hardy cover crop mix that helps protect and prepare your field and garden for next season's crops. Fall Soil Builder Blend is a mix of fall rye, Austrian winter peas and winter vetch that together adds nitrogen, suppresses weeds, adds organic matter, and helps prevent erosion. The fall rye establishes quickly to crowd out weeds. The peas and vetch fix nitrogen in the soil, making it readily available for the following crops. Incorporating the plants into the soil in the spring adds organic matter. 70% Fall Rye, 20% Austrian winter peas, 10% winter vetch, by weight.

Seeding Rate: 1kg (21/4lb) per 1,000 sq ft and 34kg (75lb) per acre

How to Grow Fall Soil Builder Blend

Step 1

Timing

Can be sown as early as the ground can be worked until late summer when it is especially beneficial as an overwintering cover crop.

Step 2

Starting

Sow to a depth of 1.25-2.5cm (.5-1”).

Step 3

Growing

Till under at anytime until plants begin to flower. Peas may winterkill, dependent on temperature and snow cover.
