Great germination on these so far, can’t wait to see them flower! Looks like a smaller version of marigolds.
I love this blend! I planted it in May in a plateau area within the Cariboo and it grew quickly and was in bloom right through September or maybe later. Summer was mostly 2-3 flowers and then different flowers bloomed through the months.
I’ve never left a review for seeds before, but I wanted to share my experience with the Alkendos lettuce seeds.
Since March, I’ve tried germinating them multiple ways:
- direct sowing outdoors several times,
- in patio pots,
- and indoors in seedling cells under controlled conditions.
Out of almost the entire packet, I only had one outdoor seed germinate, and even after about two months it is still extremely small and slow-growing.
In one patio pot, only one seed germinated out of about five or six sown. I also started more seeds indoors in seedling cells, and after about three weeks, none have germinated.
I grow many other vegetables and herbs successfully, so this stood out to me compared to the rest of my seedlings this season. After searching online, I also noticed other gardeners mentioning low germination with this variety.
I wanted to share this feedback in case others are experiencing the same issue or in case there may have been a weak seed batch.
Hi Nancy,
I'm sorry to hear that your seeds have not germinated successfully.
Pelleted seeds need to stay consistently moist after sowing so the coating can fully break down and allow the seed to sprout. Please feel free to reach out to our customer service team at customerservice@westcoastseeds.com with your growing conditions and order details so we can help troubleshoot further with you.
Warmly,

A friend of mine and I were excited to split a small package of these seeds. We planted 35 between the two of us, both indoors and outdoors at both houses. Only 2-3 germinated and they're not thriving. We've both grown other varieties of radicchio before and presently. This variety just doesn't seem very robust.
