Provisionally 4 stars…. Time will tell. Mixed the tall fescue and microclover in with a traditional cool season grass blend in my troublesome SSW facing Ottawa lawn. Young trees not yet providing sufficient shade from all day sun in the summer, which means constant battles with chinch and to a certain extent with grubs. This year we had record rainfall, last year drought. The lawn died this year and I dethatched, added topsoil and reseeded. Just finished the first mow. The tall fescue takes a while to germinate and between birds eating the seed and hungry Eastern cottontail rabbits thinking the new lawn and clover is there own secret sprout bar, it’s been a challenge to get all over coverage. Now we are starting to get frost at night. So the coverage is uneven, but in some areas it has finally come in nice and thick after five weeks and some additional overseeding since then. Can’t beat perennial ryegrass for quick germination and the KBG for filling in but they have their drawbacks. So fingers crossed for good overwinter and recovery in spring. Hoping the increased resistant to pests and the fixing of nitrogen with less need for fertilizer - all promises with these products - will prove true.
One of my favorites ever, they are stunning. Beautiful blooms, still flowering in med October.
They are just beautiful. With lots of pinching during seedlings than throughout the summer, they are still blooming in mid October.
