The Crescent Valley Resource Centre, located in Saint John, NB, has always been passionate about combating food insecurity. The creation of The Growing Place Community Garden and Greenhouse helped us do just that. With the help of several wonderful partners around the province, our dream became a reality. Here we are with a beautiful garden space to share with the neighbourhood!

Our garden is in the heart of the neighbourhood, with 42 outdoor raised beds and 26 greenhouse plots. 62 plots are rented by residents and gardeners around the city, and 6 plots are maintained by CVRC summer staff. All the harvest from these 6 plots is donated to the North End Food Bank.

The Growing Place Community Garden is also a proud Monarch Waystation. Spread out in our educational pollinator garden, our milkweed plants are attracting monarch butterflies all summer long. Caterpillars are brought into the centre and cared for as they undergo metamorphosis. This provides a wonderful educational opportunity for children in the CV community.

This space is an education centre open to all, including those outside the CV/Anglin Drive neighbourhood. In addition to welcoming gardeners of all experience levels, we host workshops on a variety of topics such as starting seeds, growing herbs, composting, and preserving.
