The Pandora Park Community Garden Society was formed in early 2009 by a group of people from the Hastings Sunrise area of Vancouver. We’ve been meeting since February 2009 and have steady grew to over 65 members annually growing in this shared space! 2025 marks our 16th season in Pandora Park.
We strive to provide an opportunity for local residents to grow affordable organic produce, flowers and herbs, and provide an informal, safe environment and occasion for horticultural, social, educational and community interaction between gardeners and between the gardeners and the public, to build community in the Hastings Sunrise area.
We have over 65 members that garden in the community garden in our private plots and also volunteer in our common plots which we invite the public to admire and harvest.
We hope to provide an opportunity for environmentally sound organic food and flower production, given that locally grown food can help mitigate the process of global warming through the emission of transportation-related greenhouse gasses and enhance the aesthetics of the surrounding community.
We believe that gardening can play many positive roles to better the lives of individuals in our community which include getting to learn about where our food comes from, and using gardening as an activity to help us mentally unwind from this fast paced world.
We have a seed library within the community garden which is open for all community members to borrow from. It is a low barrier way for people to "try before you buy" and an opportunity to share saved seeds. Seeds gathered from donations are distributed in the library or are used in the common vegetable and flower plots which are open to the public to harvest.
