The IODE is a National women's charitable organization with Chapters throughout Canada. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for children,youth, and those in need, through education, social service, and citizenship programs.
In Olds, there is 125 seniors living in Mount View Lodge. We want to keep the seniors active by gardening plus most had gardens and flowerbeds in their original homes so this helps them feel more at home. At the Metis school, we want to promote gardening and children; at the recreation rehab unit gardening helps strengthen their muscles, community gardens bring gardening and produce to the needy.
Gardening helps physical and mental health plus provides nutritious food for everyone.
Our organization has been in Canada for 125 years and was set up to help the veterans during war time. IODE Alberta raised $100,000.00 for women's shelters in Alberta for our 100th birthday!
