Half-hardy plants withstand light frost and their seeds can be planted early. If these annuals are set out in the fall, they will bloom the following spring.

This is hands down the best pickler I’ve ever, ever planted. I bought them initially from a fundraiser and was so pleased with the quality that I’ve already reordered for next year. They grow into a perfect size and even the odd one I missed grew larger but did not yellow as some picklers do if they remain on the vine. They also have very small seeds with lots of flesh. The spines are very sharp till you wash them and the body and flesh is firm, perfect for pickling. They are a deep green colour and look very appetizing in the jars.
