Latin
Pisum sativum
Family: Fabaceae

Exposure: Full sun to partial shade

Timing
Sow as early as the ground can be worked and repeat until late spring. Sow a fall crop towards the end of summer. This pea is hardy to Zone 6: -23°C (-10°F).

Starting
Sow to a depth of 2-6cm (1-2½").

Growing
For nitrogen fixation, allow plants to reach the flowering stage. If tilling under, allow two weeks before planting the next crop. Avoid following this cover crop with other legumes, like peas, beans, or soy.
