A seed tape of a fast-growing scallion that is crisp and mild. This reliable producer is a popular choice due to its adaptability to a variety of conditions. It grows vigorously in a range of soils, and it is both heat and cold tolerant, so it can be sowed from spring to fall. Great for succession planting.
1 pack includes 2 x 2.5m (6.5') of tape and contains approximately 360 seeds in total.
Start by making shallow rows in prepared soil. Unfold tape and separate the two strips. Place tape in the rows and water. Cover with 5mm (0.25 inch) of soil. Water well. Keep consistent moisture until seeds sprout in 12-14 days.

Unfold the seed tape and separate into two strips. Place the seed tape on the surface and lightly cover with soil, 5mm-1cm (¼-½”) deep, in rows 15cm (6″) apart. Scallions can be thinned to 2-5cm (1-2″).
Ideal pH: 6.0-6.8
Fertile and well-drained soil in full sun is essential. Add well-rotted compost and dig ½-1 cup balanced organic fertilizer into the soil beneath each 3m (10′) of row. Keep moisture high in the top 20-30cm (8-12″) of soil. To increase the blanched white lower portion, simply hill soil up around the stems as they grow. Provide August-planted scallions with the frost protection of a cloche or heavy row cover as the first frost date approaches.
Ideal pH: 5.5-6.5 (6.0-6.8 for scallions).

Bulb size is dependent on the size of the tops: the bigger the tops, the bigger the bulb. Provide August-planted scallions with the frost protection of a cloche or heavy row cover as the first frost date approaches.

In optimal conditions at least 75% of seeds should germinate. Usual seed life: 1 year. Per 100′ row: 260 seeds (scallions 1.2M), per acre: 76M seeds (scallions 1,045M).
Harvest scallions once they are at least 1cm (1/2”) thick and from 20-30cm (8-12”) tall. Scallions should be green and upright. Gently remove soil from around the base and carefully pull up the full scallion.
