Sow Red Marble onion seeds every couple of weeks from March to May. Red Marble is a versatile variety that can be planted close together to produce attractive red pearl onions, or farther apart to produce true cipollini bulbs around 5cm (2″) wide. The bulbs are squat with flat bottoms, thin necks, and strong skins. Red Marble cipollini onions are surprisingly hard, and have excellent storage ability. They are genuinely eye catching for the market table. This is a long day dependent onion that is best suited for growing in the north between the 38th and 55th parallels.
