Rosalie F1 purple asparagus seeds produce 80% male spears that are tender, with very low fibre. Excellent flavour accompanies impressive diameter and uniformity. Rosalie is tolerant to acidic soils, and resistant to rust and Stemphylium. It’s well suited to temperate climates. If blanched (grown in darkness, eg: grow it under an inverted garbage can), the spears will be white, but will turn an appealing pink colour after harvest. Purple asparagus keeps its colour after cooking, but it’s also delicious raw, straight from the garden. As with many vegetables, fresh asparagus makes it worth all the labour and waiting. It’s delicious.
