We kept buying Sieglinde at the Farmers’ Market in Vancouver because they tasted so buttery, even without butter. For the past two years, we’ve grown our own from WCS. They are great producers, and so tasty fresh from the garden. Their delicate skin means that they aren’t the best keepers, but for summer eating, a roasted Sieglinde is a beautiful thing.

I was very pleased to find this potatoe in the WCS catalogue a couple of years back. Coming from Germany, this has always been one of my favourites and I was very happy to discover that it grows extremely well in the Northern BC climate (close to Yukon border, with some frosty summer-nights).
It doesn’t produce large potatoes up here, but the taste definately pays off the smaller size. And it stores fairly well. We kept them easily from harvest in September to March/April.
This potatoe is a staple in my garden and I truelly hope, WCS is continuing to offer it!
