Allium sativum var. ophioscorodon. This classic porcelain rocambole type has been grown in British Columbia for decades. Yugoslavian Porcelain garlic has large bulbs with copper veins and some purple blotches. Expect nine to fourteen cloves per bulb, each with a solid, dark brown skin colour. The flavour is described as being hotly spicy at first, mellowing to a good, strong taste. This variety stores particularly well if it is cured properly. Plants are large and vigorous. Be sure to keep the garlic bed free from weeds leading up to harvest time. Apply a balanced organic fertilizer as soon as spring growth is underway.
