We all know the beauty and visual appeal of traditional red Crocosmia, but the flowers of Crocosmia George Davison are golden yellow. This classic garden favourite is loved on the coast for its deer resistance and long lasting bloom period. The sword shaped leaves and spikes of flowers only grow to 60-90cm (24-36″) tall, so it’s well suited to container growing. This Crocosmia is hardy to Zone 5. It was originally bred by George Davison in 1900, and is listed in some older resources as “Rowden Chrome Montbretia.”
Remove spent flowers and cut plants back to 5cm (2″) from the ground in autumn. This plant is highly attractive to hummingbirds.
