Lamprocapnos spectabilis. Another hardy (Zone 2), deer resistant, bomb-proof, pollinator friendly plant is Dicentra. The Latin name has changed, and it is still widely listed as Dicentra spectabilis. It is an ephemeral spring plant that grows suddenly out of the ground from a thick rhizome, and blooms early in the spring, providing a nectar source to newly emerged bumblebees, and the first hummingbirds of the year. Bleeding Hearts Rhizomes thrive in shade, and dies back completely by late summer. Mulch over the Dicentra bed with fallen leaves to maintain a forest-like, rich soil. (1 crown)

I have yet to plant my bleeding hearts but only want to say I appreciate the way this company presents itself and am looking forward to beginning to garden a little in this old yard of my 1903 or 13 or 23 ??? wonderful farm house. You appear to be gracious, informative, appreciative of your workers and welcoming to us customers. Although I am old now and unlikely to buy much, I will spread the word. I look forward also to the appearance of my grass and flower mix — of course I will have to plant it first.
