Ships November to March. Twelve dormant cocoons come in a small cardboard container. Store the container in a safe spot in the refrigerator until about a week before crops begin to bloom. When the nest site has been cleaned and prepared, secure the box of cocoons to the nest site. As the sun warms the nest site, the mason bees will emerge. Emergence can take hours, or several days. Males emerge first, then the females. Osmia lignaria propinqua. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions at 1-888-804-8820.

Thank you for your article on Mason Bees. This is the second year for me to work with Mason Bees and I have some cocoons in my refrigerator waiting for springtime blossoms. I’ve read two books on Mason bees and your article filled in some missing information. Best.

Help us repopulate the pollinators! These lovely little bees are docile and stay very local, pollinating my garden and coming straight back to their nesting tubes to create lots more bees! I have hatched West Coast mason bees for 2 years and my nesting tubes are already filling up with busy little bees and their mud plugs. This is a great activity for kids and adults, it’s not expensive and it benefits the environment – what’s to lose?
