Liatris spicata. Butterflies adore this plant! Gayfeather Bulbs are actually known as corms, and they are easy to plant in the spring for tall spires of feathery purple flowers that open sequentially in July and August. These provide nectar and pollen to a host of insects, most notably the butterflies that cannot resist its colour and fragrance. This perennial is native to the eastern US, but will grow in nearly any garden soil, and it’s hardy in Zones 3 to 8. Liatris grows 120-150cm (48-60″) tall. Ten corms per package.
