The Little Brown Bat (Myotis lucifugus) is the most abundant bat species in North America, and very common in British Columbia. These little night fliers can eat as many as 1,000 mosquitoes each hour during the summer. The Large Bat Box encourages these bats to pair and mate at the end of summer, to hibernate over winter, and emerge with a new family in the spring. Plus small amounts of bat guano will accumulate beneath the boxes, which can then be added as a super rich source of Nitrogen and Phosphorus to soil mixes. This solid pine bat box has gripping grooves on the interior two chambers and can accommodate up to 64 bats. For best results, mount at least 3m (15') high on an unobstructed pole or against a wall with clear approach space of twenty feet.
