Festuca ovina
Use this bunch grass as an extender for your wildflower mixes where you want a large area covered. The pretty blue-green stems of the grass sprout in distinct clumps or tufts 30cm (1') tall. To adds a fine accent, plant Sheep Fescue into the area while separating the individual wild flower varieties. It can be used as a clumpy lawn alternative on sandy slopes or in areas you will not mow. Sow spring, summer or fall. This grass will germinate best if sown in the late fall to sprout in the spring. Sun or part shade. With wildflowers, it should be planted around 500-750g (1-1.5lb) per 90 sq m (1000 sq ft). Aas a lawn (with tufts, unmown) plant at 1500g (3lb)/90 sq m.
