Rodina

Dark red cylindrical roots of the Rodina beet make sweet uniform slices ideal for canning, pickling and fresh table use. This unique variety grows long 15cm (6"), glossy, smooth roots with little effort because they form partly under the soil. Medium-tall tops are reddish green for bunching. Matures in 70 days. (hybrid seeds)

Seeds will germinate in 5-12 days depending on soil temperature. For uniformly sized beets, thin carefully to 7-15cm (3-5") apart when seedlings are 5cm (2") tall. Eat thinnings, roots and all. Root size is controlled by spacing and variety.
