Cylindra
A very sweet Heirloom beet that grows in a long cylindrical shape for denser plantings. Very nice for pickling or slicing. The leaves of this beet are a little sweeter than other beets, and are very nice as salad greens. Roots grow to 20cm (8") long with dark red flesh.
Matures in 50-70 days. (open pollinated seeds)

Best beet I have tried for North Vancouver. If you intercrop alternating rows or this beet with carrot nantes coreless, there are virtually no carrot flies. And as a space saver, beets are above ground, carrots below so can plant 4-6 inches apart. |
