Canary Creeper
Hardy Annual
Canary creeper's tiny 2cm (3/4") fringed buttery blooms have been compared to the wings of canaries in flight. With feathery flowers, the unusual bluish green, five-lobed foliage adds geometric variety to dull and homogeneous fall landscaping. In cool areas, treat canary creeper as an annual (it is easily grown from seed), provide even moisture in sun to part shade. The mature height of this wonderous vine is 2m (6'). Canary creeper usually survives only where temperatures stay above freezing, but mulch and a mild winter may bring a repeat performance. As an added bonus Canary creeper is a tasty treat. Its flowers, leaves, and fruit are completely edible, with the same peppery taste as its cousin, the nasturtium. Direct seed where it is to grow, this plant will twine on anything.
