Swiss Chard
Rich in vitamins and so nutritious, chards are very easy to grow! Swiss Chards are propably the most under-appreciated of all vegetables. The thick stems can be cooked like asparagus. The baby leaves can be used as fresh salad greens or cooked like spinach. While the leaves are eaten, it is in the same species as the garden beet (beetroot), which is grown primarily for its edible roots.
The word Swiss is used to distinguish Swiss Chard from French spinach varieties. Popular among Mediterranean cooks, our finest varieties can be traced back to Sicily.

Bright Lights Swiss Chard produces thick red, yellow, rose, gold and white stems bear slightly savoyed leaves of burgundy and green. Canary Yellow
The vibrant oranges and yellows of Canary Yellow Swiss Chard bring cheerful colour to spring and winter gardens. The young stalks are a deep orange colour while the larger, more mature stalks turn a bright yellow to contrast beautifully with dark green glossy leaves. This variety has exceptional leaf quality and good keeping qualities.

Eldorado

Hot pink to magenta stems and veins with dark jade coloured foliage, Magenta Sunset Swis Chard is a beauty among the Swiss chards. Magenta Sunset is grown primarily for immature salad greens as it tends to bolt during summer heat. Kept in check, it will produce abundant nutritious leaves with a mild earthy flavour. Sow again in August for a fall harvest or for decorative 60cm (24") plants.
