Brussels Sprouts

Like broccoli, these little "bonsai cabbages" are full of beta carotene, vitamin C and fiber. And after frost, they become sweet, as the plants create sugar for antifreeze! (Family: Cole, Brassicaceae)

How To Grow Brussels Sprouts
Oliver

Oliver

Oliver replaces Prince Marvel. This cabbage is easy to harvest because bright green sprouts are well spaced. Plants are compact in height at about 75cm (30"). Oliver is an easy-to-grow variety of Brussels sprouts. The sturdy plant is vigorous and fast growing. Pick the small 3cm (1") bright green sprouts starting 3.5 months from sowing. Control aphids with hard blasts of water as soon as you see them in the garden. Matures in 3.5 months. (hybrid seeds)

Vancouver

Vancouver

Sturdy plants are loaded with unusually big, light-green sprouts on a thick stem. The flavour is very sweet and mild. This is an excellent variety for market or home gardeners looking for a compact plant, big sprouts, and ease of harvest. Plant in early June for harvest late October to early January. Good tolerance to Sclerotinia and Alternaria black spot. Matures in 4 months. (hybrid seeds)
