Vegetable Seeds Parsnips
Parsnips
The flavour of parsnips becomes sweeter after they have had some frost in the garden. They are a very versatile vegetable in the kitchen to fry, roast, steam, mash or bake. Choose from the mighty Gladiator or Javelin hybrid varieties or the historic open pollinated Harris Model. Developed right here in Steveton B.C.
Gladiator
We like Gladiator for its quick germination and early growth; it is bigger and more vigorous right from the beginning. Gladiator is wide at the top with a short body. It is tender and delicious even to the largest sizes, with no core. Canker resistant.
Matures in 110 days. (hybrid seeds)
Javelin
Smooth-skinned, tapering parsnips that are resistant to canker. Good quality, uniform roots with a nice flavour look terrific on the market table. This variety holds well in the soil for winter harvesting.
Matures in 140 days. (hybrid seeds)
