Bulls Blood

Bull's Blood produces baby greens in 30-40 days. The beautiful deep-red, smooth leaves look stunning in a salad, are sweeter than radicchio, and can be cut repeatedly. Bull's Blood leaf colour gets darker as the leaf gets larger and adds unusual texture and colour to the flower garden. If you don't cut the leaves you can harvest uniform, round, red beetroots.

Chioggia Guardsmark Improved

Chiogga beet seeds are a striking Italian HERITAGE variety with light-red, smooth round roots and bright pink and white alternating rings inside. These sweet beets are about 5cm (2") in diameter with mild green leaves and pale red stems. We don't recommend it for pickling as it becomes very pale in the jar. Interestingly, each red ring in the cross section of these beets represents one lunar month of growth.

Chioggia Guardsmark Improved Organic

Cylindra

A very sweet beet that grows in a long cylindrical shape for denser plantings. Very nice for pickling or slicing. The leaves of this beet are a little sweeter than other beets, and are very nice as salad greens. Roots grow to 20cm (8") long with dark red flesh.

Detroit Supreme

Detroit Supreme is an older variety known for its deep red roots with a smooth skin and medium tops. The leaves are dark green with red veins and a small crown. Some find that this variety does not zone in hot weather.

Early Wonder Tall Top

Our most popular beet variety! Early Wonder Tall Top beets adapt to all seasons but are especially good in early spring with quick growth in chilly soils. Early wonder tall top produce tall, tasty green leaves with red stems and slightly flattened roots thst are wonderful for eating. Early Wonder Tall Top beets makes a good variety for general table use.

Kestrel

Kestrel beet seeds produce very smooth, round beets with a small crowns and a delicate root tip. Because Kestrel develops this fine shape early, it makes an excellent "baby beet". Sweet, dark red globes are very resistant to bolting and cescospora leaf spot. Makes lovely bunches of baby beets to take to market.

Mammoth Long Beetroot

Mammoth Beets! These deep red beets have an impressively long, tapered shape and a sweet, milder beet flavour. Pick these mangel wurzel beets while they are young and tender. Left in the ground, they can grow to 60 cm (24") or more in length, with half of the root above the soil. At full size, they make an excellent fodder crop, offering the highest ton/acre yield of any vegetable. Our seed stock comes from plants that have been grown organically in Lancashire for four generations. This beet matures fully in 90-100 days, but for table use you can pick much earlier.

Merlin Organic

Merlin CERTIFIED ORGANIC beets are very dark red and flavourful beet that keeps its shape well when planted densely. Hybrid disease resistant leafy tops green throughout the season while many other varieties become mottled or tired-looking.

Rodina

Dark red cylindrical roots of the Rodina beet make sweet uniform slices ideal for canning, pickling and fresh table use. This unique variety grows 15cm long (6"), glossy, smooth roots with little effort because they form partly under the soil. Medium-tall tops are reddish green for bunching.

Touchstone Gold

The beautiful bright colours of Touchstone gold are a table delight! This new variety replaces the Burpee's Golden with a more vibrant yellow interior and red skin. The strong tops are green with green stems and pale golden petioles, while roots are a vibrant orange, uniformly globe-shaped, and very smooth; making a stunning display on the market table.

Winterkeeper Lutz Green Leaf

Winterkeeper Beets are also known as Lutz Green Leaf. These unusually large round red roots remain sweet and tender up to 15cm (6") in diameter. The variety produces vigorous green tops for bunching in the summer. For winter storage, sow mid-July in rich ground. In fall, cover the bed to prevent freezing.
