Herb Seeds Lemon Balm
Lemon Balm
English herbalist John Gerard described in the 16th century that lemon balm "comforts the heart and driveth away melancholy and sadness". The sweet citrus flavour of this herb makes it perfect for tea and its flowers are a delight for honeybees. The plant is a hardy perennial that is happy in good soil, wether in sun or shade. It spreads quickly but is easily checked with a sharp shovel.
Lemon Balm
Melissa officinalis
Stop to rub the light green downy leaves as you pass. Use in bouquets to lemon scent a room or as a delightful tea. This herbaceous perennial self-sows and bees love it. Plants grow vigorously so keep self sown seedlings thinned out.
