Chives
Chives are among the hardiest and easiest to grow herbs. Start them from seed in the spring in a container and transplant the seedlings outdoors or ask a friend to divide a clump of bulbs from their vigorous patch. Chives are one of the earliest herbs to come up in the spring and one of the last to retire in the winter, making them a dependable plant for seasoning your yogurts, dips, and salad dressings. In Ukraine, chive seedlings signal the coming of spring as robins do in North America.
Chives
Hardy and easy to grow, the chopped stems and pink flowers add a fresh, mild green onion flavour to sandwiches, salads, and baked potatoes. Use dried flower stems in arrangements. Chives are an excellent choice for the container herb garden, but make sure to divide them regularly so they can expand in a lateral direction.
Chives Organic
CERTIFIED ORGANIC! Hardy and easy to grow, the chopped stems and pink flowers add a fresh, mild green onion flavour to sandwiches, salads, and baked potatoes. Use dried flower stems in arrangements. Garlic Chives
Flat leaves and white flowers, with a strong aroma of garlic distinguish these from regular chives. Popular in Asian cuisine, but so easy to grow and versatile for flavouring soups and salads, every herb garden deserves a little patch. Perennial clumps can be divided in the spring or fall.
Nira Organic Garlic Chives
Allium tuberosum
CERTIFIED ORGANIC! This flat-leaf variety of chives gives off a strong flavour of garlic. The white flowers and stalks are used - only a small amount is needed to add the pungent taste of garlic to salads, vegetables, and stir-fries. Chinese name is gow choi.
