Nasturtiums
Bloom time: Summer to autumn.
Nasturtiums are a gardener's dream. Virtually carefree once established. Snails don't seem to be interested in nastutiums. Nasturtiums will even self seed and come back the next year in mild climate. I look forward to their return each year; it signals that summer is here at last. Once nasturtiums begin to appear they quickly cover an area that is given to them, and within a very short time begin to produce an abundance of striking blossoms that appear to be made of tissue paper. Plant in fall or spring.
The leaves have a beauty of their own. Reminiscent of water lily pads, the more common ones are flat and round, with the stem attached to the center and the vein radiating out from there.
Alaska Mix
Hardy Annual (HA)
Tip Top Alaska's cream-on-green foliage seems lit from within. Single yellow, orange and deep red flowers are clustered in compact 30cm (12") mounds.
Alaska Salmon
Soft, salmon-coloured flowers hold themselves high above light green variegated foliage. A delight for window boxes, baskets, or for edging the walk.
Canary Creeper
Hardy Annual
Canary creeper's tiny 2cm (3/4") fringed buttery blooms have been compared to the wings of canaries in flight. With feathery flowers, the unusual bluish green, five-lobed foliage adds geometric variety to dull and homogeneous fall landscaping. In cool areas, treat canary creeper as an annual (it is easily grown from seed), provide even moisture in sun to part shade. The mature height of this wonderous vine is 2m (6'). Canary creeper usually survives only where temperatures stay above freezing, but mulch and a mild winter may bring a repeat performance. As an added bonus Canary creeper is a tasty treat. Its flowers, leaves, and fruit are completely edible, with the same peppery taste as its cousin, the nasturtium. Direct seed where it is to grow, this plant will twine on anything.

Empress of India
Hardy Annual
This old HEIRLOOM variety has stunning crimson flowers rising above cascading deep green leaves for hanging baskets or planters. Empress of India makes a striking contrast that never fails to attract attention. Matures to heights of 30cm (12"). Plants form billowing 2-foot mounds.
Glorious Gleam
Hardy Annual (HA)
This semi-trailing nasturtium wanders 1m (3 ft) and more. Large, fragrant, double and semi-double flowers come in a beautiful range of colours. Encourage it to climb by tying. You will find Glorious Gleam fills in a large area quickly.
Jewel Mix

Mahogany
Hardy Annual
Salad Blend
Hardy Annual (HA)
Part of the Whirlybird series, these Nasturtiums hold their flowers high above the foliage. This mix of spurless, half-double flowers includes tangerine, soft salmon, deep gold, deep mahogany, bright scarlet, cream and cherry-rose. A handful of these flowers can be torn and scattered into salads for a stunning look and a light pepper taste.
