Cynoglossum
Bloom time: Spring and then again in mid-summer to late autumn. Flowers decline in mid-summer.
Also known as Chinese Forget-Me-Nots or Chinese Hound's Tongue, this delicate annual is a relative of borage, and found native in Asia and Europe. Unlike borage, Cynoglossum is not edible, and may even cause over-sensitivity to light and other neurological problems for animals that graze on it. However, unlike regular Forget-Me-Nots (Myosotis), this plant is easily contained. It is intensely attractive to bees.
Chinese Forget Me Nots
Hardy Annual
Cynoglossum amabile
Clear, indigo blue flowers are effective massed in clusters. Chinese blooms longer that other varieties from summer to late autumn, creating bright and cheerful mounds in the border. Resistant to mildew. Direct seed, plant 0.6cm (1.25") deep. Chinese forget-me-nots germinate in 5-10 days. Self sows.
