Amaranthus

Amaranthus has tall plants that are cloaked in large leaves of rich and stunning shades of red, yellow, bronze, and green. Their impressive tassels of red or green flowers are unforgetable in arrangements. Some members of the Amaranthus family are considered to be weeds but many are valued for their edible leaves, nutritious grains, and beautiful flowers. Grow in containers or as a novelty in the border.

Love Lies Bleeding

Hardy Annual
A spectaclar addition to any garden, many parts of these plants - including the leaves and seeds - are edible and are frequently used as a source of food in India and South America. The red colour of the inflorescences is due to the high content of betacyanins, similar to the related species known as "Hopi Red Dye" amaranth. Plant height 120-180cm (4-6').
