Achillea
A standard herb that will come back year after year, with many beneficial properties for the vegetable grower. Commonly known as Yarrow.
Parkers Variety
Perennial (P)
The classic golden-flowered yarrow is an old-world herb that grows on sturdy stems to a height of 120cm (47”). Attractive in the middle or back of the perennial bed, from July to September the plant bears 15cm (6”) wide heads of tightly compressed, brilliant yellow flowers. Yarrow is highly drought-resistant, and has been used for centuries as a companion plant in the vegetable garden – its scent repels aphids, but attracts hoverflies, ladybugs and wasps that feed on common garden grubs. As if this weren’t enough, yarrow contains enzymes that break down swiftly and are released, speeding the breakdown of materials in composts.
