Collards are members of the cabbage family grown for cooked greens. Although most varieties are associated with Southern U.S. cooking, the variety we sell is a very cold hardy type ideal for winter growing. Picked at the peak of winter they taste like summer! Collards are very easy to grow and are very tolerant of poor soils.
When To Start
For a summer harvest direct seed or transplant from March to mid-June. For an autumn harvest plant out by mid-May to early June. For a winter harvest start indoors mid-July and transplant by mid-August.
