Season & Zone

Exposure: Full sun
Zone: Hardy in Zones 9-10 - can be grown as an annual in Zones 3-10

Timing

Sow indoors 6-8 weeks before planting out after last frost. On the coast you might start them in February and transplant out in April. Direct sow in early spring while a risk of frost is still possible, around mid-March. Or direct sow in late autumn.

Starting

Just cover the seeds. If starting indoors, maintain a soil temperature of 15-21°C (60-70°F). Seeds should germinate in 7-35 days. Space transplants at 23-30cm (9-12") apart.

Growing

Grow in sandy, well-drained soil on the slightly acid to neutral pH range of 6.0-7.0. Water frequently in spring and early summer. As the weather gets warmer, water less frequently. Deadhead regularly.
